1. How To Play State Of Survival Game?
If your new to this game and you’ve been seeing all the tips tricks flying around the web its good to note, that its not as complicated as it might seem, you just need to first familiarise yourself with where all the options are. Note that because the screen your playing on is small it makes it a little bit more to see what to click on, but again this vary depending on user and current device.
Your main job when you first load the game is to fight off some zombies and rescue maddie and her dog by tapping on the screen icons that shows and then upgrade your buildings to get more food and resources which you need to upgrade and progress in the game. The game comes with an amazing onscreen almost life like tutorial.
2. 10 Quick tips to keep in Mind when Playing State Of Survival
Watch video below for all 10 tips
In this 10 tips, it is good to bare in mind that the game is pretty self explanatory as it has so many on-screen guides to help you along as you play this game. Firstly, It is not a crazy complex game as some people might think for serious gaming fans out there, however, i’ll be sharing these ten tips to get you guys started. In order to dominate in this game, you either need to spend a lot of money or you need to be really consistent and play smart long enough to overtake your competition.
So my first tip, which may seem obvious to some of you, is to always keep your builder active. If you’re really serious about this game and are wondering what to spend your money on, then buying this $5 package which includes a permanent second builder is the best use of your money. But I know many of you are free to play players, so you can also get a second builder for two days by spending 200 biocaps.
My second tip is to not build hardly any troops until you get your headquarters to level seven. This allows you to upgrade your barracks, range, and garage to get third tier troops, which are going to get you a lot more power points for the resources that you spend. In fact, I could see an argument for waiting until you upgrade your headquarters to level ten to build troops, but you don’t want to wait too long, because troops are a big part of advancing in this game.
All other tips have been spread out through this state of survival tips full guide. i’ll updat accordingly once i hvae more information.
3. State Of Survival Heroes Guide
There are (at this moment) a total of 19 heroes. Some you can get for free (fragments available via e.g. Hero Search, Explore Stages, special Events). In addition there are heroes you can only acquire via purchasing packs. Each hero belongs to one of the 3 troop types, Infantry, Hunters and Riders.
You need to collect fragments to unlock a hero, and also to upgrade its rank.
Every hero has three Skills. Each Skill has effect on the performance of the Hero in the Explore game, and on doing regular combat (often boosting the troops the hero accompanies, or a debuff on the troops they combat).
All Heroes provides some basic benefits that increase when increasing the Hero’s EXP level. For the Explore game these are Health, Attack and Defense values. For Military/general combat these are March Capacity increase, some boosts specific for the troop type of the Hero (e.g. Hunter Attack and Hunter Defense for a Eva, a Hero of the Hunter type), and one or more boosts related to the specialization(s) of the Hero. Specializations do not have to be focussed on combat, e.g. Chef has Gathering a specialization and gives a Wood Gathering boost.
There are 3 grades of Heroes, Rare (blue), Epic (Purple) and Legendary (Orange).
Hero Precinct – Explore and Search
The Explore game is accessible via the Hero Precinct building. There are 12 Trails, each containing various stages. You can need to complete a certain trail and stage before you can continue to the next trail and stage. Whether you can complete a stage depends on how well you have developed your heroes. Any 3rd stage you have completed you can decide to replay for rewards.
Playing a stage costs stamina (Squad stamina, which is different from the chief stamina required for the infected and development camps), which automatically slowly recharges. Pay attention to not letting the stamina bar ever fully recharge, when you can play stages to get rewards. The rewards you get in the Explore game are useful for developing your heroes.
The Hero Search functionality is also accessible via the Hero Precinct building. Whenever you see the search map above the Hero Precinct building click on it. You get several Advanced Search maps daily (with a cool down timer each time you use one) and an Epic Search map with a cool down timer of 3 days. You also can get Search Maps as rewards from your Dailies and from events.
Intel Special – Daily Intel
The Daily Intel is the better way to get extra items necessary to develop your Heroes. From the Intel menu there are several missions available that refresh after a cool down timer is added.
Focus on doing these as much as you, if you don’t have time to do all, pick out the ones that give best rewards for you. Note that there are tasks that give Maddie & Frank fragments.
There is a Radar Level and a Max Strength Level. Supposedly higher levels give better rewards. My Max Strength level is Maxed at lvl 10, Radar Level is at 15. I am still getting a mix of Rare, Epic and Legendary missions and I have the feeling that will stay the same.
Besides the above there are also events that provide items to unlock and improve heroes. When you start the game there is the “Mission: Locate Jane” event, which is a good one to focus on as all activities also help developing your account. In general you should always look at events and see whether you can get good rewards.
Also pay attention to recurring events like Ray’s Place and Value Vouchers. Here you can get some of the rare Heroes.
Whenever you use Heroes you can assign 3 (if you don’t assign a best selection is made by the game), one of each troop type Infantry, Hunter and Rider.
Upgrading the XP Level of a Hero
Upgrading the XP Level of a Hero is relatively easy. You can get XP by letting the Hero be part of a team that you use for Explore, or you can use Combat Manuals to assign EXP to it. The maximum level you can upgrade an hero is determined by its Rank.
Upgrading the EXP level of your heroes will increase their basic attributes, which makes it an important part of making your heroes stronger.
Increasing the Rank of your Heroes
You can increase a Hero’s rank with fragments specific for that Hero. You will also get generic hero fragments for a specific grade, which you can convert to any hero (as long as it is already unlocked). A high hero rank allows you to level up your Hero to a higher level, and allows you to upgrade hero skills to a higher level.
Improving the rank directly is not improving your hero, but your hero rank is restricting the maximum exp level, and the level to which hero skills can be upgraded, which makes the rank very important.
See in below table the requirements for upgrading the rank of heroes.
|Total Fragments to
progress to next Rank
Upgrading Hero Skills
Initially when you have unlocked a hero only one Skill is available. You will need to increase the Rank of a Hero to unlock the two extra Skills and to allow the Skills to be upgrades. You also need skill books of the grade of the hero to be able to upgrade the skills.
Skills have effect for both the Explore game and combat, improving skills is an important part of making your heroes stronger.
Note that when joining rally there is something special wrt hero skills. For the first 4 players joining a rally the first hero skill of the first hero in their team is activated. This means you have to make sure that the first hero has a hero skill that compliments the activity of the rally, e.g. when doing Influencer Trap rallies you should as first hero have Eva, Sarge or Zoe to increase troop damage or attack, and not for example an infatry hero.
Before you realize it you will have unlocked quite some heroes (7+) and you probably start to wonder which heroes to focus on to develop. There are specific fragments for each hero, but for each of the three grades there are also generic hero fragments, for each grade there are also generic skill books required to unlock and level up skills of heroes of that type, and the Combat Manuals can be used to improve the EXP level of any hero. Meaning you should be selective about how to use most of the ingredients.
Very early on in the game it is best to focus on Rusty, Ghost and Sarge. Rusty and Ghost are the only Rare/Blue heroes and you will unlock them very early. You will get quite some Rare hero materials, so it is easy to develop both of them to a high level. You’ll need a purple Hunter to complete your first time. Sarge is not necessarily the best of the choices you will have early on (Eva and Mike are alternatives), but you will get most fragments for Sarge so it is the logical choice.
Chef is the alternative for Infantry Rusty, and Travis and Jane for Rider Ghost. Select which to focus on and keep improving them until they are better than their blue/rare alternative.
Maddy & Frank is a Legendary hero you will likely unlock very early as well, and from the available legendary heroes she is by far the easiest to get fragments for. You can get Maddie & Frank fragments by doing Plague Zones, from the Daily Intel and there is also a bunker that gives Maddie & Frank fragments.
Maddy & Frank, Chef and Eva (or Sarge or Mike, I prefer Eva because of the Enemy Settlement Troop Health Debuff specialization bonus) will be a good team to focus on once you played for a while, until you get some more legendary heroes to a higher level.
Note that new heroes are introduced and also ways to get heroes always change. Often in these type of games it will be easier to get good heroes as time goes by. Keep this into considerations when reading these tips for your team composition.
At first I thought Hero Gear was a spenders only feature, but I soon find out there are various ways to get the necessary Hero Gear Parts for researching the two cheapest sets. The most common way is from the Influencer Trap, you get some based on your damage ranking (irrespective of whether your alliance succeeded or not).
For each troop type there are three pieces, and you should research each of them one time (well, actually three times for each of the three levels), after which you can craft one for each hero of the troop type.
Once you have researched the 3rd level of the first set, you can continue to the 1st level of the second set.
The 3rd set has different requirements, besides the Hero Gear Parts you also need Set Design pieces. These pieces you also get from the Influencer Trap, but it will take some time to accumulate enough.
Tip: Save up on the Hero Gear Parts until there is Alliance Throwdown, you can score a lot of points by consuming certain amounts of Hero Gear Parts.
4. State Of Survival Best Heroes
Honestly every player has their own stats on who they think is the best Hero and the answer to that question varies as not everything that works for Mr A works for Mr B. The heroes stats are all staggered but one thing for sure is the Legendary Heroes as they 3 different abilities they add to your game as you progress.
5. How To Upgrade Your Heroes in State Of Survival Game?
Upgrading your Heroes is paramount to this game if your really serious about this game and you want to win big, progress faster, and beat exploration Missions.
Before reading on its good to know that your Hero Precinct, Your Hero Current Rank, Exp levels, Hero Skills and Gear which unlocks at level 22 Headquarters, all co-inside together to give you a combined powerful hero. Upgrading the XP Hero level is considerably easy. You can get XP by letting Heroes be part of the team you use to Explore, or you can use a combat guide to set EXP to him or her.
The maximum level at which you can increase your character is determined by its ranking. Increasing your character’s EXP level will increase their basic attributes, making it an important part of strengthening your character. You can increase the rank of a character with special fragments for that character.
You will also receive general character fragments of a certain level that you can convert to any character (if it’s already opened). High character rank in sos allows you to take your character to a higher level and increase character skills to a higher level.
Increasing the ranking does not directly improve your character, but your hero ranking limits the maximum level of experience and the level at which the character’s abilities can be increased, which makes ranking very important. The following table lists the requirements for updating character ratings. but you also have to remember to upgrade your hero precinct this governs both hero ranking and hero EXP level.
6. Best Way To Spend BioCaps (in game expensive currency) in State Of Survival Game
Via your Headquarters you can access the Settlement Buffs. Here you can use Biocaps to activate a large variety of Buffs. Most are worth considering, I will just handle part of them here.
Using the Mega Gathering Boost as often as you can (during peace time) is a no brainer. In this state of survival tips Gathering resources is for most players a very important way of accumulating resources and with the 100% Gathering Boost this goes a lot faster.
Purchase More Speed
Construction and Research Speed can be purchased to increase the speed with 10% or 15%. Whether this is worth it depends on the total timer of your planned construction or research. I plan to write a calculator for this in the coming days, but to give some guidance assuming currently a 0% boost you need to have a total timer of at least 27.5 hours to make it effective to activate the 10% speed up increase for 2000 Biocaps.
Above all, dealing with timers more than 54.625 hours becomes more effective to activate the 15% speed increase for 5700 Biocaps. The shorter timers you can use the Biocap to speed up the timer instead of activating a boost.
For the combat Buffs it is more difficult to make a quantitative analysis, but if you plan to fight using some Buffs can be worth it.
A special mention for Peace Flares, these are for sure a good investment to protect your troops and/or resources.
Once you reach VIP 4 you get a 10% Construction Speed boost. You can activate VIP for 30 days for 10,000 Biocaps. In my eyes this is worth it. You are likely using two building queues 24/7 and that 10% Construction Speed boost allows you to do a lot more (or saves you on a lot of speed ups).
At VIP 8 you get an extra March Slot and at VIP 9 the Construction Speed boost is 20% and combat boosts starts to be added, so it only gets better.
Second Building Queue
You can buy a bundle to permanently unlock the second builder queue, but if you haven’t done this yet, you should for sure unlock it temporarily with Biocaps. It is very cheap.
There are some good things in the store, but often things you can get through normal gameplay as well. For most I would only purchase it if it would help me win rewards in an event. One exception is the talent point reset. As you grow the EXP level of your Chief it becomes more and more useful to switch your talent tree settings between economy and war.
If you decide to use your Biocaps to purchase something from the store, the VIP store might offer it cheaper. Especially once you grow your VIP to a high level there is quite some offering.
The selection in the Market Stall is random, so difficult to plan, but the rates are better than the general Store. Check it out regularly and use the refreshes if you consider using your Biocaps to purchase stuff.
Purchasing Other Stuff
Meanwhile, not all items you can purchase with Biocaps are available in the store. For example you can click on the + to increase your VIP level, after which you get the option to buy 100 VIP points for 200 Biocaps. In general these things are quite expensive, but it is often possible (although there are also plenty of things you can only purchase with bundles).
There are events where you can use Biocaps to extend your possibilities. For example in the Alliance Throwdown you can purchase extra Challenges, and in the Biker Carnival you can force an extra refresh of your tasks. Both worth it in my eyes.
Autocompleting Construction, Research, Troop Training
In conclusion, if you don’t have the resources and/or you don’t want to wait until a timer runs down you have the possibility to click an Instant button to buy your way through it. You need to be careful when doing this. Clicking this button pays for everything (resources and speed ups) and is in general very expensive. You might have some of the resources in your items, and also have some speed ups.
In my experience it is better to first check what you have, purchase per item what you need, start the building, research, troop training, use up the speed ups you have (inlcuding Morale speed ups), wait for some Helps if applicable, and only after use Biocaps to run down the timer. And only do this if you can win nice rewards from an event.

11. How TO Get More Marching Slots in State Of Survival Game?
Whenever you send troops out of your Settlement, whether to attack, reinforce, gather or encamp, this counts as a march. The number of troops you can send in each march is dictated by the level of your Headquarters. The higher your Headquarters level, the greater your possible March Capacity.
Your March Capacity can also be increased through Research and Talent Points as well as by using boost items. The number of marches you can send at each time is dictated by your level of Research.
Researching March Slots in the Research Lab will unlock the ability to send out more marches at the same time. Activating the higher levels of VIP (8 and above) will also add a temporary extra March Slot.

14. Chief Gear Full Guide
Explaining the Basics
Once your Headquarters reaches level 22 the option to craft gear in the Armory is unlocked in the Workshop building. You can potentially craft gear pieces for 6 different slots, providing your chief with significant extra combat boosts making your armies perform better in any battle.
Different Sets and Combat Boosts
At the moment there are 5 different sets. The first fantastic 4 (Rookie, Riot, Blast and Frontline Sets) do not require any designs, just materials, and cannot be enhanced above their basic level. The 5th (Tactical Set) requires Tactical Gear Design (only available by purchasing at this moment) and can be enhanced two levels.
For a complete Rookie set you already get 20.71% Attack and Defense for all three troop types. A full Frontline Set count as 50.11%. The hugely enhanced (Legendary) Tactical Set this is 177.93%.
For the 4 free sets you require only Advanced Alloy, Adhesive, and Chief Gear Tools. For the Tactical set you also require Tactical Gear Design, which you can only get by purchasing bundles.
Events are the main way to get the materials. You can get small amounts from various events, but larger amount I got from ranking well during the Infected Horde event. As an alliance we got 210 Advanced Alloy, 3 Adhesive and 1 Chief Gear Tools for ranking 6th. Individually I got 4800 Advanced Alloy, 50 Adhesive, 23 Chief Gear Tools for ranking 68th.
Other ways to get the materials: small amounts of Advanced Alloy from Plague Zone battles, Some Advanced Alloy, Adhesive and Chief Gear Tools from alliance ranking in the Alliance Showdown event.
There might be more, so always keep an eye out on what events are available and try to do well.
You can also purchase the materials. Advanced Alloy costs 2 biocaps per unit, and Adhesive 200 biocaps. I am not sure what the Chief Gear Tools cost, so far I have always had enough in which case you can’t purchase and can’t see what it would cost.
The Workshop building is where all actions relating to Equipment is taking place.
In the Armory section you will on the left side see a list of all possible gear pieces. On the right side you can see the details of the piece selected in the left side. You can switch between looking at the required Materials and Benefits. If you don’t have enough materials it is shown in red and you can click the Get More button to purchase the materials.
If you have enough materials you can click Craft at the bottom right, and once fininished you can use the Equip button to wear the new piece. So far the best what I crafted was Frontline set piece, which only took a couple of hours, so it is all quite fast and no need for speedups.
You can also add Medals here, but I find it more clear to do that from the Medals menu. I will write a bit more about Medals in the last paragraph of this guide.
If you decide to Dismantle a piece (typically because you are about to craft something better), you can also do this from the Armory section of the Workshop selecting it, clicking Remove and clicking Dismantle. This will return all used materials and equipped Medals.
You get boosts for having 3 pieces and 6 pieces of the same set, so there is some benefit in having a complete set. Still, at a certain moment you have enough materials to craft something better. I will have a brief look at whether you should wait until you can for example craft 3 pieces of the new set, or just go ahead when you have one.
Let’s look at going from Blast Set to Frontline Set. A complete Blast Set gives 39.42% Attack and Defense for all Troop Types. Now let’s look at what happens if we replace the Blast Radio with the FrontLine Radio. Compared to the complete Blast set we now miss the 3.94% Attack of the 6 piece set boost, and the 17.74% Hunter Attack and Defense from the Blast Radio. What we get back is 22.55% Hunter Attack and Defense from the Frontline Radio.
Stats At Glance
This means Rider and Infantry Defense stay the same, Hunter Defense improves with 4.81%, Hunter Attack improves with 0.87%, Rider and Infantry Attack go down with 3.94%. I would say this is not directly an improvement, so if you can only make one new piece, you could wait a bit. For two new pieces you can craft one Hunter and one Rider piece, making both Hunter and Rider Attack slightly better, while Infantry Defense stays the same. This is a clear improvement. The fact that Infantry Attack would still go down is no issue, because the main goal of infantry is defense, not attack.
Alliance Throwdown and Chief Gear Score
One of the Alliance Throwdown Challenges is to improve your chief gear score. This can be a nice way to score some points for the Alliance Showdown, so I tend to wait with crafting new gear until the Alliance Throwdown event is active and I can grab the right challenge.
When you select the challenge you can see the points of each gear piece, but just in case you want to plan ahead, I have also listed them in the table below.
|Rookie Set (Uncommon)||1125|
|Riot Set (Uncommon)||3000|
|Blast Set (Rare)||6000|
|Frontline Set (Rare)||10500|
|Tactical Set (Rare)||27500|
|Tactical Set (Epic)||49000|
|Tactical Set (Legendary)||124000|
You typically need to increase the chief gear points with 3000 or 6000 points. 3000 increase means for example replacing a Riot Set piece with a blast set piece, so the points you get is the difference in points between the new piece and the old piece.
Note that the game keeps track of your highest chief gear score so far, so it does not work to dismantle pieces before the challenge and craft the same pieces again, that will not get you extra points.
What you could do, is if you encounter situation like above, where you have a complete Blast set and enough materials to craft one Frontline piece, is to craft it and equip it for the Alliance Throwdown, but later switch again to the complete Blast set (even dismantling the Frontline piece if necessary) because you prefer the boosts of the complete set. Just remember in that case your highest chief gear score is now already based on the extra Frontline piece.
Chief Gear itself gives nice boosts, but in addition if you have chief gear and you have reached Headquarters 24, you can made Medals and attach these to your gear as well. This can also give you significant combat boosts. Even if you fill up all your medal slots with the lowest level medals, you get 53.1% Health and Lethality increase for all three troop types. I plan to write a separate guide focusing on Medals and link it from this guide shortly.
Besides Chief Gear there is also the concept of Hero Gear. This is something separate and equipping all of your heroes with the best possible Hero Gear pieces also can give you significant combat boosts. Not as much as Chief Gear or Medals, but still worth to focus on as well. I also plan to write a separate guide focusing on Hero Gear and link it from this guide shortly.
15. State vs State Guide
As the name says this is an event where states face off against eachother. The ultimate goal is the capture the capital of the other state, but there is a lot of other stuff going on as well.
The event contains two parts, a 5 day preparation stage followed by a warfare stage (which I assume will be 1 day, but might be 2 days).
The first 5 days are a preparation stage for the warfare. This all seems very similar to the Survival of the Fittest event (most stages seem identical). The key difference is that there is the extra state vs state part of this preparation, which ever state scores least points during the preparation stage will have its capital up to be contested by invaders, the capital of the other state is safe.
|Use Speed Ups||50 points per minute of training, building, research speedups|
|Heroic Development||3100 points for Ray’s Place, 130 for Elite Hero Fragments, 460 points for Epic and 1200 for Legendary, 1 point for gathering 500 food/wood, 100 metal or 25 gas|
|Chief Gear Upgrade||33 points for increasing the highest chief gear score by 1|
|Medal Upgrade||points for enhancing medals|
|Power Up||1 point for 1 power increase in building, construction, troop training and upgrading, 220 points for using hero gear parts.|
Preparation Stage Tactics
The way it seems is that this event will be alternated with Alliance Throwdown, which make it harder to save up speed ups, hero upgrade items, medals, chief gear materials to do well in both. You might have to make some choices what to focus on.
The first stage (Use Speed Ups) and last stage (power up) are somewhat similar. Please keep in mind that if you compare research and construction with troop training, you will find that for troop training speed ups you relatively get a lot of power increase, so from that perspective it makes more sense to spend your building and research speedups during the first stage and your troop training speedups during the last stage. After you are done with spending speedups during the Speed Up stage, try to start a big building upgrade and research project that finish 4 days later during the Power Up stage, this way you get some points “for free” (as in not having to spend speed ups).
If you have saved up some biocaps to do spins for Ray’s Place the second stage is the time to do it. Ray’s place can be a great way to get some of the more rare hero fragments (like Ash at the moment). Upgrading Heroes also good to do during the Heroic Development stage, but not all might be able to do so, either because heroes are already maxed or due to a lack of fragments.
Do not underestimate the amount of points you can get by gathering, and anyone can contribute here. Plan your gathering at the end of the previous stage so that at the beginning of the Heroic Development stage all your troops come home with a full load of resources, and keep sending them out to gather the whole day. Make sure your talents are set of Economy (Gathering) and you have the 100% gathering settlement boost active.
Chief gear and Medal Upgrade are probably hardest stages. Just save up the chief gear materials and medal ingredients until these stages.
You will really benefit from having a large active state during the preparation stage. In some states you will see that there are only one or a few alliances that bully everyone and have caused a lot of players to quit the state, they are in for a hard time, as it will become difficult to get an opportunity to challenge the capital from another state.
The Warfare stage contains two different goals. Anyone can go out to the other state and attack settlements (and tiles) during the complete stage, but besides that the capital will also open up of the state that last the preparation stage. This will happen at the normal time the capital would open up for the Capital Clash event. The capital of the other state will stay locked (and will remain under control of the alliance that previously held it).
I am not yet sure how you get points during the warfare stage, someone indicated to me you will not get points for killing troops from players that are more than 3 levels below your HQ level, but I still have to confirm that. The general idea will probably be similar to a kill event, meaning more points for higher level tier troops.
Everyone should be prepared that there will be no rules, this will normally be all out war and players will start porting to hives in the other state as soon as the Warfare stafe starts. These invaders will not follow any rules your state might have, and you run the risk of losing large amounts of troops. Better put up peace flare when offline.
The battle for the capital will be similar to the capital clash within a state with the addition there will be many invaders as well. It could be that invading or defending states opt to combine strong accounts in one alliace just for this event, typically the important thing is considered to conquer the enemy capital/defend your own capital, and less value is given to which alliance hold the capital.
During the Beta everyone was granted 3 free cross state relocators for this event, and it only cost small biocaps amount to relocate more often.
I am not sure yet of the specifics of the rewards, but there will be solo point rewards for each stage, and solo, alliance leaderboard rewards for each stage and overall event, and I assume some rewards based on how the state performs as well.
As with Survival of the Fittest the real good stuff will likely only come from doing well in the solo leaderboard, and it is probably not going to be possible to rank high in the overall solo leaderboard without doing very will in the warfare stage, as with killing troops the amount of points you can get is huge.
Comparing this to King of Avalon/Guns of Glory
King of Avalon and Guns of Glory are two similar titles of the same maker that I have been playing. There is no direct comparison with the events in those games. The state vs state seems a bit like a combination of the Kingdom Raid and Excalibur Invasion in King of Avalon, but there is enough to make it stand out more as well.
16. How TO Change or Rename your Chief in State Of Survival Game?
Renaming Your Chief
You can rename your chief by clicking on the top left chief icon in your settlement and on your wright you should see a pencil icon , click this to rename your chief but this will cost you 400 biocaps if you haven’t used up the free option to rename your chief when you first load the game.
you can change your chief by clicking on the top left chief icon in your settlement and on your top wright you should see a image with a recycle icon on it, cimply click this image and you should see an array of all your heroes by picture only, click on any of them and this will simply change your chief.

18. Legendary Hero Full Guide for Non Spenders
Available Legendary Heroes
In this state of survival tips for Legendary heroes, its good to note that for Riders the amazing Legendary heroes are available: Maddie & Frank, Trish, Miho. These 3 heroes can be acquired for non-spenders. Trish and Miho are currently available via the Value Vouchers event. Maddie & Frank is available via Value Vouchers as well, but there are also several way you can get fragments without spending. My choice Rider Legendary Hero is Maddie & Frank, not because she is the best, but because she is the only Legendary Hero where you can get fragments for quite easily. The more rare ways I prefer to spend on heroes in one of the other two categories.
For Hunters Jeb, Zoe and Lucky are available in the game. I have so far been unable to acquire Lucky (I believe spenders only) and Zoe. Zoe is possible if you reach top 50 once in the overall ranking of the survival of the fittest event (or twice in rank 51-100). In my state that is very hard for non-spenders. Because of this I focus on Jeb, but this might change if I can unlock a better Hero.
For Infantry Ash, Nikola, Wolfe and Ray & Rolex are available. Ray & Rolex I have not yet been able to unlock (I believe for spenders only, but looking at the name Ray might also have been available in Rays Place before I paid attention to it). Nikola and Wolfe are available via the Value Voucher event. Ash I acquired via Ray’s Place. I chose for Ash because she is the newest.
Upgrading Maddie & Frank
Maddie & Frank is the easiest to upgrade from all legendary heroes. You have a chance of getting some fragments via the Intel Missions, you can get fragments via the Plague Zone chests, Maddie & Frank is the most common Legendary Hero drop from the Epic Search maps, and their is a fortress bunker that gives Maddie & Frank as reward.
This is not going very fast, especially once you come to the point that you need 70 fragments for a next rank. It might be tempting to use the generic hero fragments you might have, but I strongly advice against that, they are in my opinion way too valuable to waste on Maddie & Frank. Be patient, you will get there with above methods (and possible other ways that will be introduced).
Ash is my most valuable legendary hero and fragments are hardest to come by. The only way I have seen so far is via Ray’s Place, which is costly, but if I have enough biocaps I still go for it. Because Ash is my most valuable legendary hero I have no problem using the generic legendary hero fragments to upgrade her rank.
It wasn’t too difficult for me to get her to Major I, lvl 50. Of course after that it becomes more difficult, but consider that the combat boosts at this level (March Capacity 10685, Infantry Defense 150%, Infantry Health 25.7%, Enemy Settlement Troop Defense -15.9% and Settlement Troop Attack 31.75%) are for example better than Chef’s 130.3% Infantry Defense when he is maxed at General.
There are several ways (non very easy) to get the generic legendary hero fragments, for example the maximum alliance points rewards for Alliance Throwdown (and individual leaderboard rewards for this event as well), individual leaderboard for the Reservoir Raid, the rewards for seasonal events like the Mothers Day event currenly going on. Pay attention, more possibilities might come along, focus on doing well on whichever way you can get some.
Getting Ash to General will take forever, but that is not necessary. It will take me another 150 fragments to get her to Lieutenant Colonel I (level 60), which I believe will be a serious improvement over Chef General 80, After I have reached that level I will reconsider whether the best use of my legendary hero fragments is to get Ash higher, or focus on another legendary hero.
I am not sure whether I should actively work on upgrading Jeb. I get the occassional fragment from the Epic Search maps, but no easy other way. For example using the Value Vouchers (spending 15k biocaps to get 12 Jeb fragments conflicts with using the biocaps on more spins in Ray’s Place for Ash fragments.
Jeb is not as valuable as Ash and I expect at some point I will unlock a better Hunter Legendary hero, so don’t want to invest too much into this one (so no generic legendary hero fragments, and not too many biocaps). Perhaps after getting Ash to Lieutenant Colonel I, I will find it more efficient to spend more on a Hunter Legendary Hero than improving Ash further, but I hope by then I have been able to unlock Zoe or something better.
It will take some time before you have three legendary heroes that outperform your epic heroes. Currenlty from a combat point of view my best team is a maxed (lvl 80 General) Eva (Sarge is an ok alternative, but I prefer the enemy settlement debuff from Eva over the infected buff from Sarge), level 50 Major I Ash and level 60 Lieutenant Colonel II Maddie & Frank.
Just make sure you have a favorite Epic and Legendary Hero for both slots and keep improving both and just select which one is best. My suggestion is to not just look at Hero Power, but look at the March Capacity and combat boosts that the hero provides.
What if I am willing to spend some money?
If you are a low spender most of the suggestions are still useful. Be selective what you do with your money, you can for example get Zoe, or get Ash up to Lieutenant Colonel I faster, but trying to max Ash out will still prove costly and it might still be good to not waste money (or generic legendary hero fragments) on Maddie & Frank, but work on her slowly for free and spend your money where it ads more value to your account.
In conclusion, i hope this helps with having some focus on legendary heroes for non spenders. Getting and levelling up good legendary heroes will be a tactic for several months, not days of weeks, so be patient.
19. Alliance Showdown Full Guide
How does it work?
The event consists of different stages, during the first stage, Registration, any alliance members interested to join should register and assign troops to participate to one of the three lanes. After this stage your alliance will be assigned to a group (total 6) of similar strength alliances and will battle all of them.
You don’t need to do anything for the battle, the three lanes of your alliances will match up against the three lanes of an opposig alliance (you will play once against each of the alliances in your group). First the top player of each lane will face off against eachother. Whoever wins will fight with his remaining troops against the number of 2. Any player can only fight twice per battle.
The Alliance that wins the most lanes will win and get victory points accordingly. At the end of the event a ranking is made in the group based on the victory points.
There are 2 different type of rewards you can get.
At the end of the event every player participating will get rewards based on the current tier of the alliance (this is based on historical Alliance Showndown participation) and the rank of this round of the Alliance Showdown event. These are the most interesting rewards, Chief Gear Materials.
At the end of each round each player will get rewards if they were able to defeat 1 or 2 opponents. These rewards contain Chief EXP, Research Speed ups and resources. All quite small amounts, so not that interesting, but a nice little extra if you are able to get it.
Can Troops Die etc?
When you participate and assign troops, you should consider it that you assign a copy of your troops and heroes. Participating will not take up one of your deployment slots, and your troops and heroes will not actually leave. So you will also not have any casualties from these battles.
There is not that much to this event, just some simple tactics.
First individually, everyone should try to be as strong as possible when assigning troops. This means for example switching your talent points to War and using the Massive March talent to further increase your March Capacity when you assign troops. You could also activate temporary boosts, but these are rather expesive, I don’t think it is worth it. If you had forgotten to maximize your troop capacity when signing up, or you have increased the troop capacity since, you can still change your troops by going to the event again, clicking on the lane that your troops are and clicking Manage Troops.
As an alliance, since the victory condition is to win 2 of the 3 lanes, a common tactic is to divide the strong players over 2 of the 3 lanes and leave the 3rd lane weak. This tactic should increase the change of victory over a similar strength alliance who has all 3 lanes of equal strength. If you follow this tactic, better rotate so now and then which lane is the weak one, you don’t want to become predictable.
According to the description there is a time before each battle round that the r5 and r4s of an alliance can still change the troop composition in the lane (the toops of individual players cannot be changed). I have not paid attention to that yet, so I am not sure what changes are possible. If it is for example possible to change players between lanes, that might be nice to remove predictability.
Since there is a limit of only 2 battles per player per round, this event favors alliances with many strong players, not alliances with a few very strong players (big spenders) only. This mean the alliance should really encourage all their players to participate. In the tier that we currently play the first 15 players in strength compete and if I understood things correctly the amount of players per lane can even increase for higher tiers.
Alliance Building Benefits
Above all, your Alliance can build the Alliance Showdown statue building to get some extra benefits for all alliance members (settlement located within the alliance territory) based on the Alliance Showdown Tier of your alliance. At tier gold where we are at at the moment, this is not very interesting, a 3% gathering boost.
To conclude, I hope this helps understand the Alliance Showdown event and do well. If you have questions or want to share more tips, please use the comment section below.
20. Ray’s Place Full Guide
How does Ray’s Place work?
The event allows you to play a roulette wheel for Roulette Chips. There are 12 possible rewards, the most interesting at this moment are 1 and 5 Ash Fragments. Later this may change to another Hero.
The event lasts 3 days and every day you get a free spin.
Besides the rewards from the spins, you also get rewards based on the number of spins you have done. Those are accessible via the chest at the left top of the roulette wheel. You get 3 Ash Fragments for 5 spins, 6 for 15 spins, 12 for 35 spins, 18 for 70 spins, and 30 for 120 spins. You also get an increasing amount of legendary skill books from the chests.
For real money there are several packs available by clicking on the Buy button in the Ray’s Place event. The special deals all have a maximum of one a day. I can’t judge whether these are good ways to spend your money as opposed to other ways to get legendary hero fragments, as I am not a spender.
If you don’t have any Roulette Chips you can also buy them with Biocaps by clicking on the 10 Spins for 9 Chips button. This costs 13,500 biocaps. You can also buy 1 for 1,500 biocaps, so indeed, the 10 spins for 9 chips gives you one chip for free.
What I do depends on the amount of Biocaps that I have. I tend to not deplete my biocaps reserves completely, so normally when this event comes along I have a fair amount of biocaps (20-40k), but nothing too excessive. If I have such an amount I tend to go for purchasing the 10 for 9 deal for 13,500 biocaps and 2 single chips for 1,500 each, costing me a total of 16,500. Together with the 3 free spins this allows me to do 15 spins during the events guaranteeing me the 3+6 Ash fragments from the first two chests. Hopefully I am lucky and I get some more fragments from the spins, or otherwise some 1 hour speedups (anything but resources please 🙂 )..
I am often asked whether this is a good way to spend your Biocaps. I think it is. The only other way I know how to get legendary hero fragments by spending biocaps is the value vouchers events, and the heroes available in that event are not as good as Ash.
21. Survival of The Fittest Chief Gear Badge Enhance Full Guide
Survival of the Fittest is a recurring weeklong event that consists of different stages. The first stage is called Settlement Evolution. This guide contains some tips on how to do well.
You get points for consuming Plasma Cores (100,000 points for 1 plasma core) and using Speedups on construction, Research and Troop Training and Upgrading (1500 points per 1 minute speed up).
You can prepare for this event by making sure you have plenty of speedups and resources, so that you can score points by using those speedups, and use the resources to start new construction, research and troop training projects.
The most important tip is to be patient and use your construction speedups during the event.
If you want to use more speedups than you have in your bag, consider buying them at a discounted rate from the VIP store. The higher your VIP level, the more options you have to purchase those speedups. This will save you some Biocaps.
Troop Training and Power Sprint Which is Which
There are two other stages where you can get points for similar activities, the Troop Training stage providing points for troops trained based on their tier, and the Power Sprint stage providing you with points based on power increase in building, research and troops. If your goal is to do well in the overall ranking, I make a comparison how you can score most points with your speed ups. Note that this is not necessarily the best tactic, because it does not consider the rewards for reaching point targets for the different stages.
For troop training, training 1 tier 9 troop (I don’t have tier 10 troop training time yet) with a 157.8% training speed up boost (which I have at the moment of writing this guide) will take 0.84691 minute and would give 1270 points for the Settlement Evolution stage, 1500 points for the Power Sprint stage and 2250 points for the Troop Training stage, so looking at maximizing your total points the troop training speed ups are best used during the troop training stage.
Although for construction and research the answer is not that easy, because each building level upgrade and research project level has its own ratio of power vs time, some example calculation point out that you do get a lot more points from using your construction and research speed ups during the Settlement Evolution stage compared to the power sprint. Ideally you would like to combine things, e.g. use speed ups on your HQ or Hero Precinct upgrade on Monday, but don’t complete it, make sure that 4 days are remaining so that you also get the power increase points for the power stage. Similar with research, although such long projects might be a bit more difficult to come by.
Big Spenders (hmmm)
It is almost impossible to compete with big spenders for leaderboard on this stage. There will normally be plenty of spenders who purchase large amounts of speedups and saving up 2 weeks will not give you that much. Not even enough to win the point rewards, and for sure not to rank high on leaderboard.
22. Event points added to troop training
Normally I train in maximum size batches, but near the end of the day I am going to make sure I can still complete and restart training batches before going to bed.
Pay special attention to events where you get points for completing troop training (either from power or direct points based on tier). If such an event will start after the upcoming reset, make sure you have just completed a full training batch so you can start the event with significant points.
Consider switching your talent tree to war in such a scenario, so that you can even train more troops and start with the event with more points.
For Speed Training it will be good to really have the fastest Training Speed and the highest Training Capacity, so make sure you max everything (e.g. training camp updates before speed training).

24. Troop Training Guide Added
Soldiers Instruction Vitality
The Troop speed when it comes to training, determines how fast you can train troops, a very important boost, as (just like with research and construction) you typically want to be training all three troop types 100% of your time, and do some speed training now and then as well, so this stat greatly influences the amount of troops you can train “for free” daily and the speed ups you need during speed training sessions.
You can get a significant troop training speed from your Training Camp buildings. Ultimate you would like to have 4 Training Camps of lvl 30 providing you with 24% (4×6) Troop Training Speed boost.
A far higher training speed boost comes from research. In the Development category there is a total of 7 Training Routines projects that combined give a total of 201.6% Troop Training boost. Further down the tree they get quite expensive to research, I am not looking at Training Routines VI lvl 2 that takes 8 1/2 day, but if you are in this game for the long run, it is worth it to research all of them.
The War talent tree also has a training speed project very far down the tree, I am not sure what the boost is of that project.
I think these are the only ways to permanently increase your troop training speed, but I currently have 10% higher troop training speed than I should have based on these two stats and I am not sure where that came from.
The leader of the state also can activate a 30% state wide Training Speed buff.
Troop Training Capacity
The troop training capacity determines how many troops you can train at the same time. It would in my eyes be ideal to have at least a training queue so that you can train in batches of 24 hour.
However, in this game it does not seem to be possible to increase the training capacity to a very high value. Nevertheless, the higher the better, so that you can for example start large troop training. When troop training event starts and you can start with many points already.
The Training Camp buildings increase your training capacity for a total of 124 (4*31) when you have all of them maxed at lvl 30. A larger training capacity increase comes from the Troop Training buildings (Barracks, Range, Garage) for a total of 504 (168×3) when all at lvl 30, or even 726 (242×3) when all are 3 Stars / Flashes.
The 7 Training Yard research projects in the Development tree can provide an additional 204 Training Capacity.
The War talent tree has two Training Capacity projects, not exactly sure what the increase of those is.
You could use a settlement buff to temporarily increase your training capacity with a percentage (10%-20%). I do think it is nice to have a large training capacity. I don’t like to spend biocaps to just temporarily increase it.
Daily Training Tips and Tricks
In this particular tips, normally I train in maximum size batches, but near the end of the day I am going to make sure I can still complete and restart training batches before going to bed.
Training Tip 2
Likewise, i pay special attention to events where you get points for completing troop training (either from power or direct points based on tier). If such an event will start after the upcoming reset, make sure you have just completed a full training batch so you can start the event with significant points. Consider switching your talent tree to war in such a scenario, so that you can even train more troops and start with the event with more points.
For Speed Training it will be good to really have the fastest Training Speed and the highest Training Capacity, so make sure you max everything (e.g. training camp updates before speed training). .

Tier 1 to 9 Troop
For troop training, training 1 tier 9 troop (I don’t have tier 10 troop training time yet) with a 157.8% training speed up boost (which I have at the moment of writing this guide) will take 0.84691 minute and would give 1270 points for the Settlement Evolution stage, 1500 points for the Power Sprint stage and 2250 points for the Troop Training stage.
